Dear Classic Car Enthusiasts, Collectors and Followers,
June is always one of those wonderful months when the classic car world really comes alive. After the quieter winter months, it feels as though everything suddenly emerges from hibernation: garage doors open, engines are fired up, and cherished cars are brought back out onto the roads for shows, rallies, tours and long summer drives.
It has certainly been a busy and exciting time across the classic car calendar, with the Mille Miglia once again bringing its unique magic to the roads of Italy, Le Mans reminding us why endurance racing history holds such a special place in our hearts, and the London Concours offering a beautifully curated celebration of exceptional cars in the heart of the City. Not to forget the up-and-coming Concours Des Légendes at Wilton House! Add to that the many local shows, club gatherings, rallies and weekend events taking place up and down the country and across Europe, and it is easy to see why June remains such a favourite month for classic car enthusiasts.
It was a shame that so many events crossed over, and a few had lower attendance than expected, owing to clashes with the bigger events: unless you possess the gift of ubiquity, you cannot be everywhere!
What I enjoy most, at this time of year, is not just the cars themselves, but the people behind them. Every car has a story, every owner has a reason for loving it, and every event seems to bring out that shared enthusiasm which makes this world so special. Whether it is a concours lawn, a rally route, a pit lane, or simply a Sunday morning meet, June gives everyone the chance to show off their pride and joy and to enjoy these wonderful machines as they were meant to be enjoyed.
“The most beautiful race in the world”, the Mille Miglia (2026) was a great success again, not just for all our clients who entered and finished without any problems, but also as a build-up to its centenary celebrations next year.
THAT is going to be the one to attend: we already have eight cars on the list to enter, all of which are original Mille Miglia cars. We have a lot going on in the build-up.
The auction world has been a little quiet recently. More and more online sites have popped up, and results are not looking favourable if you are thinking of taking this route to sell your car. As a consequence, we are receiving far more valuation enquiries on classics, and many more requests for hunting down the right car; unlike online experts, we know what to look for and where: classic car write-ups can be a booby trap in the making.
Understandably, buyers are becoming increasingly cautious, and rightly so. The classic car world has changed and so have the people within it - just be very careful whom you engage with.
If you are looking to sell your classic car or invest in the classic car world, source the right car for the 2027 Mille Miglia, or are considering a restoration project, then we are here to assist.
Drive safely, happy and safe motoring.
