Origins and Concept

Morgan, known for its handcrafted, retro-style sports cars, had never built an off-road vehicle before. However, the idea for the CX-T came from the company’s desire to push boundaries while staying true to its heritage. The name "CX-T" comes from "CX," referring to Morgan’s modern CX-Generation aluminum platform (introduced in 2019), and "T" for "trial," referencing endurance off-road racing.

The project was developed in collaboration with Rally Raid UK, a specialist in Dakar Rally vehicles. The goal was to create a rugged, go-anywhere Morgan while keeping the brand’s signature lightweight and fun-to-drive characteristics.

Design and Engineering

The CX-T is based on the Morgan Plus Four, but it underwent extensive modifications to handle extreme terrain. Some key changes include:

• Increased Ground Clearance: Suspension lifted with EXE-TC coilovers and rally-spec dampers.
• Off-Road Tires: 15-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain BFGoodrich tires.
• Underbody Protection: Reinforced skid plates to protect the aluminum chassis.
• External Roll Cage: A tubular exoskeleton doubles as a storage rack for gear, spare tires, and fuel cans.
• Upgraded Drivetrain: A BMW-sourced 2.0L turbocharged engine (255 hp) paired with a limited-slip differential and revised gearing for off-road use.

Despite these modifications, the CX-T retains Morgan’s open-air driving experience, offering a blend of vintage motoring aesthetics and modern engineering.

Production and Rarity

Morgan announced that only eight CX-T units would be built, making it an ultra-limited production model. Each one was handcrafted and customizable, ensuring exclusivity among collectors and adventure enthusiasts.
