Dear Classic Car Enthusiast
Here we are, at the end of a year that none of us is going to forget in a hurry, and at the cost of sounding a little ‘cliché’, the only thing we can do now is to look forward to a better year. Let’s hope 2021 brings fresh, positive challenges and a brighter outlook.
On this note, we would like to thank all of our clients, friends and work colleagues for the wonderful support over this year; for us, it has been a hectic one, very busy, but with one hand tied behind your back.
We have witnessed the mad rush to oversee the import of car registrations of vehicles coming in and going out of the country, with the objective to miss any Brexit complications before 1 January.
We hope this won’t affect the world market; as the UK has such a dominant influence in the classic car world, our opinion is that Brexit would not have much impact in future world dealings: we shall still see cars being bought, sold and transported all over the world, come what may!
Some of the consequences of Brexit finally taking place, such as electric motors and heavier taxes for their alternatives being forced upon us, may result in the classic car market lifting over the next couple of years, with very special cars being taken out of the market into large collections: once gone, not to be seen again for a considerable period of time…. and therefore values on the up!
Last weekend, in the UK, was marked as an end-of-year “auction spectacular” with three big auctions taking place over two days. Admittedly, nothing to make major headlines, but some interesting results. Of course, all parties reported total success, but we are still not convinced for whom…
Bidding over the internet is still almost like a personal challenge, when you have no idea whom or what you are bidding against. Will you ever know if you did have someone else also wanting the car as much as you do at the price you are prepared to pay, or is it that famous bidding opponent, Mr Wall?
As always, remember we are here to assist with acquiring, disposing of, storing or transporting a classic car; importantly, we are happy to give just friendly advice, and help.
We wish you all a Happy Christmas and let’s look forward to a better New Year.
Happy motoring and stay safe.
Keith
