Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Manual
On of the main problems with the DB4 and DB5 models was lack of headroom for the rear-seat passengers.
Aston Martin decided to address this by lengthening the wheelbase, which provided additional rear legroom as well as allowing a different roof profile which gave extra head room. A restyled tail known as the Kamm Tail.
The DB6 entered production in October 1965, initially in saloon form only.
Launched at the 1965 London Motor show, the Short Chassis Volante and the the standard Volante followed. Also, a number of Shootingbrakes models were converted by Radford.
The Vantage model continued with the increased power, also a Brico fuel injection model to meet increase power with economy and efficiency.
The Vantage engines have the same triple Weber 45 DCOE9 carburettors as were fitted to the DB5 Vantage engine. The camshafts and valves are unchanged from the DB5 Vantage engine. These engines have a 9.4:1 compression ratio and were of course originally tuned to suit 100-101 octane five star leaded petrol, which is no longer available.
In January 1966 the Aston Martin factory called a "improved Vantage engine" was introduced. In practice, this meant that there were three different states of Vantage tune, known as VA, VB and VC. All were different from the earlier Vantage tune.
Their main purpose was to ensure that the Vantage engine performed at its best in different atmospheric conditions around the world, the major differences were therefore in the carburettor jets.
Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Manual
We are so excited to be privileged to be given this very original Aston Martin DB6 Vantage with a manual transmission in total original specifaction. Delivered new by H.R.Own in January 1966 to Mr W.Lewis, who kept the car in his ownership until 1975.
The car was then purchased by Mr.M Hawes who was the owner for 32 years, but was used very little during his ownership with only 3,000 mile in that time.
The car was then purchased by Mr. A Fry who owned the car for six years and again used very little until it was sold to the current owner in 2013 and now has only covered 47,500 miles in total.
The car is a great condition for the year and drives so well, but the interior is exquisite and worn in all the right places to make the car squeal patina.
The car need nothing just driving and looking after as all the previous owners have lovingly done over time.
